Radiation Planning Completed
Posted Mar 22, 2010 10:58pm
Parker went to University of Colorado Hospital this morning for his radiation planning session. He got his first ambulance ride from Children's to University (literally across a huge parking lot). They were so nice to him and made him feel special. They put him to sleep with propofol to do the casting and CT scans. He didn't wake up very happy at all. We are hoping that he doesn't wake up this way each time.
His oncologist from Children's came to visit us today and said that it is very unlikely that Parker will have to have radiation to his abdomen to treat the kidneys. They think that the surgery removed all of the tumor cells.
We are still waiting for the final pathology reports to determine the celly type of the tumors, whether favorable or unfavorable histology. If they are unfavorable the chemotherapy gets more agressive.
He will get radiation to both lungs for 8 treatments starting this Friday. The treatments will be M-F with weekends off. No word on the chemo. yet since they don't know the cell type.
He had a really good day today. Neil and Logynn came over for most of the afternoon and evening. He had fun playing with his daddy. We went for a short walk and then a wagon ride down to the play room.
Parker is starting to look so much better as some of the fluid comes off.
Grandma Cheryl and Grandpa Randy came in today. They will be helping with Karsyn and Logynn.
He is starting to get back to being the Parker Willis we all know and love so much.
Hopefully the pathology report will be complete soon!!!
with love,
neil and amy
