Karsyn started school on October 12th, 2010. Oh my gosh, this was so hard on him. He went through ups and downs leading up to the big day. He was excited one minute then dead set against going the next. Poor little guy has basically been shut out from the world for the past year. He only got to go to preschool for a couple of months last year. He went through tremendous anxiety over the past two weeks. He had days where he really fought me, cried and it broke my heart when I had to leave him crying. Yes, he had a cold the 3rd day so it didn't help that he missed 2 days right after starting. I know this is somewhat typical for any kindergartner but Karsyn is SUPER shy. We didn't really realize how much he has been affected by Parker's illness. He has been asking questions about cancer and keeps saying he is so happy that Parker didn't die from his cancer. He worries about him daily when he is away at school. He even said that he would promise to help out at home and help with Parker and Logynn if he could just stay home from school. He has been super klingy to Parker lately. We keep assuring him that Parker is fine but he still worries a lot. It is amazing just how much these little people understand, just how much they pay attention. The bond is amazing between them. Parker is missing Deano too when he is at school and Logynn just lights up and is all smiles when they go to get Karsyn at school everyday.
......the good news is......this later part of this week has been GREAT!! Karsyn is liking school and is excited to go now. Hopefully next week will be good too. He loves Mrs. Jones, his teacher so much. It is so cute when I drop him off at his classroom in the morning all the kids say hi Karsyn and several of them run to give him hugs. He's not too sure about all of this but I think he really does like it. He just kind of quietly says hi. He is learning to read, is making pottery, has learned about astronauts, loves gym class and music, and much more. I keep telling him he is getting to do so much more at school then he would at home.
He is so precious and of course we are just so protective. It is so great that he is liking school more each day, makes my day away from him a lot easier too.
Parker MAY start school on Tuesday. He is SUPER excited. He is doing good. He is getting over his cold and keeps saying that he needs to go to school because his port is out. He is so funny, he keeps reminding us of that deal, "When mine port is out I get to go to school, right, remember mom that is what you said." They don't forget anything.
We thank God everyday for these beautiful children. We continue to pray for Parker's remission.
